John Long JVL Designs

John Long is the founder and CEO of JVL Designs. For nearly 30 years, he has been a visionary leader in creating projects that fuse architecture, art and nature.  He specializes in creating outdoor community spaces that are functional, aesthetically beautiful and an integration of natural elements, like fire and water, and structural design.

His influences stem from his childhood in the Southwest where he would spend summers on Native American reservations immersed in indigenous culture with a deep reverence for the land.  His early trips to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West also had a considerable impact on his approach to integrating nature and form.

In addition to his vast residential work, his projects include Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur; Hulbert Estate in Scottsdale, AZ; Bar Bocce in Sausalito, CA; Cuvaison Winery in Napa, Berber in San Francisco and many others.

John attended Arizona State University School of Architecture.  He is the father of two children and splits his time between Mill Valley and Carmel Valley, California.
